HORACI GARCIA

ABOUT ME

Bakhmut, Ukraine. August 2022.

Horaci Garcia Martí | Videojournalist | Barcelona 1978

I studied Journalism at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. In search of new horizons, I moved to West Africa in 2008 and later to East Africa in 2015. Since then, I have worked across Africa as a freelance journalist and filmmaker for international media outlets including Agence France-Presse, ARTE, Euronews, Canal+ and France 24. I also spent four years as a shoot-and-edit video producer for the BBC World Service.

Among other stories across Africa, I covered the war in Mali and the subsequent crisis in the Sahel for several years, the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, the turmoil in the Democratic Republic of Congo and its relations with neighbouring countries in the Great Lakes region, as well as around ten electoral processes.

I am now based back in Barcelona, Spain, where I work as a video journalist for Reuters.

I have worked both independently and as part of a team, producing news coverage, TV packages, documentaries and advocacy films. I enjoy telling stories and finding compelling angles on current affairs.
